Most people only care about what a finished floor looks like. We care just as much about what's underneath it. Floor prep is one of those steps that never makes it into the final photos - but skip it, and you'll feel the consequences every single day.

Here's the thing about basement bathroom floors: concrete is rarely perfectly flat or smooth enough to just lay luxury flooring right on top of. There are low spots, high spots, rough patches - all of which can cause flooring to crack, shift, or feel uneven underfoot over time. The right move is to address all of that before a single plank or tile goes down.

What we're working with here is a freshly poured and smoothed floor underlayment. This step creates the flat, clean surface that luxury flooring actually needs to perform the way it's supposed to. It's not flashy work, but it's the kind of thing that separates a floor that holds up for 20 years from one that starts showing problems in two.

This is the standard we hold ourselves to on every basement remodel we take on. The prep work has to be right. Getting it right at this stage means the finished space will look better, feel better, and last longer - and that's what actually matters to the homeowners we work with.
